The successful implementation of any software product or application depends on its quality. With quality testing, the impact that project reworks have on the budget and schedules can be significantly reduced. Today, there is a higher need for quality testing as firms face the pressure to develop sophisticated applications in shorter timeframes. QA Mentor, Inc. was established to address this issue.
The company started with just a single service QA Audit & Process Improvement Service back in 2010 with a strategic vision to help and support QA Departments around the world with maturity transformation, establishing test framework, best practices as well as providing training and coaching in Quality Assurance and Testing domains. Throughout the years, QA Mentor has expanded their service offerings from 1 single services to 32 QA/Testing services with several very unique services which cannot be found from any other Independent Software Testing provider.
We had the pleasure to interview Ruslan Desyatnikov, Founder & CEO of QA Mentor, Inc. Below is an excerpt.
How successful was your first project roll on?
Our first project was to help E-commerce startups in NYC to establish QA Framework, process, methodology and build QA Department from scratch. We had a very aggressive deadline of only 3 months to onboard 6 QA Engineers and establish QA Methodology, Approach and Operating procedures for the entire QA Department. We completed this project one week before the deadline and received huge appreciation from the CEO & CTO at that time.
How have consumer responses over the years motivated you to shape your offerings and grow the company?
We value and appreciate all the comments and feedback from our customers. We want to understand their likes and dislikes. We want to hear their constructive criticism because only this can make us better, stronger and raise the bar higher. We want to see what they need and want. That resulted in creating 32 quality assurance testing services some of which are unique and only offered by our organization. For example, we have unique service “Testing in Your Time Zone” which allows us to cover any time zone in the world and have our QA Professionals overlapping completely the customers time zones. This is extremely beneficial for companies who are running agile and have short sprint cycles that span 1-2 weeks. You need to be quick and participate in various meetings and discussions. This is only possible when you have testers available throughout clients’ working hours.
“Earning trust and respect of consumers all around the world is through consistent focus on delivering high quality in all of our actions.” How do you interpret this statement?
It is in our mission and core values to provide quality assurance and testing, and high-quality deliverables build. We never compromise when it comes to quality nor take shortcuts. All of our annual goals and objectives include special quality targets and SLA such as defect leakage clauses which can measure the quality of deliverables.
Fostering a culture of feedback is crucial to the success of every organization. How is this true with your company?
We conduct employees and customer satisfaction surveys on an annual basis. For every project, we have internal bi-weekly checkpoints with the senior management team. On a monthly basis, we organize client’s stakeholders checkpoint meeting, where we provide visibility of all accomplishments and metrics for last 30 days.
For a company to be the most ‘innovative,’ its employees must think like innovators. They need to feel they have a decent outlet for sharing their observations and ideas. Is this true with your company?
We encourage everyone to share their own personal ideas, suggestions and recommendations. We have an open-door policy where every employee can directly talk to us on any topic. We provide recommendations and suggestions on usability to all our clients and customers and that is part of our service offerings and overall maturity.
What are the factors that make your brand most ‘innovative’ and why?
We have built 2 products in the last 4 years: QA Coverage, which is a Test Management solution, and QA Mometor, a KPI/ Metrics platform to manage quality across Software Development Life Cycle which is going to hit the market in Q1 2020. Also, we build number of QA Methodologies which is used by many QA Departments around the world as well as our own 6 proprietary automation frameworks.
As a question on sustainability, where do you see your company a couple of years from now?
We are looking to continue our growth and expansion around the world. We want to establish our footprint in every country in the world and be next McDonald for testing services at the local markets to promote our unique test methodologies and approaches. We are targeting to open 4 new locations next year.
