In a highly anticipated announcement, Apple has unveiled its new MacBook Pro models, which feature significant upgrades to performance, design, and features. The new laptops are available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, and are aimed at creative professionals and power users who demand top-of-the-line performance.
M1 Pro and M1 Max chips
One of the most notable changes is the addition of the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, which provide significant improvements in processing power, graphics performance, and machine learning capabilities. The new MacBook Pros also feature a redesigned keyboard with a physical escape key, an improved FaceTime camera, and a new notch at the top of the screen to house the camera and sensors.
HDMI port and SD card slot
The laptops also include an HDMI port and SD card slot, which were missing from the previous models, as well as three Thunderbolt 4 ports for connectivity. The battery life has been extended, with the 14-inch model offering up to 17 hours of web browsing and the 16-inch model up to 21 hours.
“The new MacBook Pro models represent a major leap forward in performance, design, and features,” said John Ternus, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering. “We’ve listened to our customers and made the changes they’ve been asking for, while also pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in a laptop.”
New MacBook Pro models
The new MacBook Pro models start at $1,999 for the 14-inch model and $2,499 for the 16-inch model, and are available for pre-order now on Apple’s website. The laptops will begin shipping next week.
The announcement of the new MacBook Pros comes at a time when demand for laptops and other tech devices has surged due to the pandemic-induced remote work and learning. With its latest models, Apple aims to solidify its position as a leading provider of high-end laptops for professionals and power users.
